One of my mentor's Dr. Ralph Weiss once shared a story with me. Now, you have got to realize that mentorship requires you to see your mentor's suggestions as direct orders, rarely to be considered let alone disregarded. In many ways, Ralph was an extraordinary man, 7 doctorate's as we called them in the 1930's and 40's. In many ways Ralph, a true old soul, had many human foibles and contradictions. In 1941, a young man could leave High School and enter a 2 year medical education to be a doctor in the fields of war. They were grandfathered into our medical system post war, and with similar paths, post the Korean war. In 1941 Ralph was called many times by the "Christian Prophet" Edgar Cayce, for his care and healing touch. Ralph was also prophetic and was truly psychic in many ways.
He would see a ceremonial fire on his property under a sacred tree on his land. His wife Gen, could also see this non-physically present fire. We shared, as i am also an old soul, without a judgement on his prophecy. One time, Ralph's immediate neighbor became an angry and destructive force. Ralph first called his friend Billy Graham who share care and compassion, but he then called his friend "The Amazing Kreskin" who channeled the events and told Ralph, he could do nothing to change the situation, but just needed patience. God's time, not his. Kreskin confirmed to me that Ralph was a special friend. This was in Tacoma Washington in 2011.
Anyway, this is funny Friday's.
The Parable. Ralph told me that there was a property down his road, that set in severe neglect. One day a neighbor brought tools and began clearing up the property. He returned for a number of days, and then a local Pastor drove by and saw the improvements, and he pulled over. He walked up to the man of service, and said "God does wonderful work. The man replied, you should have seen it when only God was involved. I took this as a true story, only later hearing a Reverend tell the same joke as a 150 year old pulpet joke of New England. Gosh! What do you do when you hear "direct order" mentor misrepresenting his stories. This is not a lie, it is smooth move inclusion of comedy and parable to tell a larger story.
