I started our as an ADD class clown, and have used improve comedy throughout my life; from lectures and sermons, to one on one conversations. Now, stand up is a horse of a different color. My FaceBook Fridays is more standup than improv. I have a sense that this is but another false duality, added to by the human tendency to over-complicate and self doubt. Once you can take a different perspective, often things come easily. We shall see.
A reactive audience is such a support for standup, and I don't see none of you as I'm trying to be funny. I certainly won't add laugh tracks, which is the standard for non live performances. As I have been tuning into late night comedy shows is that comedians both laugh at themselves and share laughs freely with other comedians. So I'm just going to put this into the developmental phase, and standup in front of full length mirror. Most late night standup's start their shows standing, with orchestrated features as part of their routine. Often the comedians have a pre-show warm up to know the audience and their mood. Laughter is contagious, and this adds to the viewer's enjoyment... I'll look forward to your comments in the coming month. Tune in a 9 am PST>
