Music Monday's:

I was there in the 60's and I remember them. I am also grateful, that I cut my teeth during this era. Music has been my meta since the 50's. but it was during the 60's that I believe achieved the highest pinnacle of music. The British invasion, Beatles, Stones and others in the early 60's redefined rock and roll. Mo Town was born in earnest with groups like the Temptations, the Jackson 5 and the Supreme's. Jazz had morphed from big band, to the essence of Davis, Coltrane and others, leading to a Jazz fusion movement in the late 60's and early 70's. Country and rockabilly became more main stream, with the likes of Jonny Cash, Roger Miller, Dolly Parton and Glen Miller. Folk emerged with the Newport Folk festival, highlighting the emergence of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. And then there were electric and hard rock groups like Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath. And for me there was a lot of "soft" rock singers, who filled the airwaves with totally forgettable love songs and formula sounds.

Today, I will bring out a couple of Beatles songs, knowing that one voice and one guitar cannot do much of a cover. When I co founded my first band, mostly West Coast and Latin Jazz, the song Yesterday had been covered more than any song in history. Nearly every elevator had Girl from Ipanema, but only a few versions. With the home studio's and digital advances, Today I attempt new arrangements (for me) of Yesterday and In my Life.
