Music Monday's:

"That's music to my ears". While this is not quite an idiom, no one says that actual music is "music to my ears". It refers to good tiding's or pleasant news, communicated without melody, rhyme or rhyme. Most people find that certain genre's that are not pleasant to their ears. Some despise rap, other's most opera, other's slasher and hard rock, other's elevator music and Barry Manilow. But almost everyone also has favorite styles and songs that grab us, make us move our feet, sometimes inviting us to sing along or even dance.

For me, music is like a family album of photo's and experiences. Almost every genre and age takes me back to a time, or an association. I wonder what the music of the past 20 years will share in the future. I think only the movie show tunes that I share with my daughter have any significant draw. I try, but the current music scene seems like "canned music", and rarely needs a second thought to know the full meaning of the lyrics. Little music of today challenges authority, but more commonly shares our own lost loves, lost trucks, and lost dog's.

This all be said, in the above print, there is a life lesson within the phrase "music to my ears". You don't have to have perfect pitch, to bring music into the lives of others. You simply have to listen, and try to understand what good news would lift another person up; then you are a songbird of immeasurable beauty. Think on these things, and see if today, tomorrow and tomorrow's tomorrow, you might bring music to another's ears.
