Opinions; Wednesday

Today, people speak of the times as "post COVID". For a short time is was post George 'Floyd, then post me too, then post 2008 wall street collapse, then, post 911. For these 25 years, we have defined ourselves through the rear view mirror. For the previous hundred years we had post WW1, post depression, post WW2 and post Korea, Vietnam. Time is compressing in our society. At best we find stepping stones, but never bed rock. There is little holding onto traditions, and we are quick to name new shooting stars.

It is said, that those that do not remember history are bound to repeat it. I have a bit of historical memory, and repeating past failures is getting very old. Our society, inside and out, resembles a nursery with misguided teachers. Instead of serious reflection, we shoot from the hip. Ever since the Nixon, Kennedy presidential race, we have marketed our leadership. Since Citizen's united we have allowed the wealthy to buy our senate and house leaders. The third leg of the American democratic stool, the supreme court has been corrupted by the marketed leaders and corrupt senate leadership.

We are encouraged to register to vote, and to do our part by voting. One might well ask: To what end? The royalty of England is tradition, but the bank of England is the true power. Economic and military power are the guiding lights of both England and America. The "better of two evils" is a phrase often heard at exit poles. It's a lot easier to realize how we got here, than how and why we must change. But change we must! We have rationalized genocide and war crimes in the "name of our friends and ally's". We have poisoned the planet beyond any historical time, and global warming has taken the "fear of the bomb", of the 50's and 60's, to a constant state of "states of emergencies". The banks, the kings and queens, the dictators and others have no power to stop the ocean rise and the glacier melts. Consumption (tuberculosis) was the fear of the the 1800's in America, "Consumption" as a societal excess is the blight of our current times.

We need to voluntarily seek simplicity, sanity and cease stealing Gods foods, water and resources from distant lands, and local expendables. No committee, no new leadership, no memberships of leadership from the United $tates of America will address the true concerns. We must remember our many failures, and look for new solutions. Each and every one of us!
