Saturday's spoken word:

Today's spoken word's are my own. The topic, what exactly is infinity? Of course this is a trick question, because, by definition, infinity can not be measured. Infinity is a younger brother to the almighty creator. We toss the word infinity around like it has some qualitative property. We speak of an infinite number of galaxies, mind boggling, but non-sensical within the minds of humans.

In the book Primate Pattern's the work of Jane Goodall, Haller and others were chronicled. In one chapter, dealing with baboon's, it was found that if 6 observer's entered a blind, 6 had to exit, but at 7, one was able to stay behind, and the baboon's number system stopped at 6. The crows in my yard easily count to 10. These are examples on how fruitless it is for a human to try to count to infinity or comprehend its nature. Vast, without limit, incomprehensible.

Now, is there life in outer space? With the limited human intellect, and my comfort with mathematics, the probabilities are that there are an infinite number of solar systems like ours, with an infinite number of identical earth's and earth speaking humans. Nonsense?, no, just our own scientific and mathematical definition of infinite. This might also serve as a reminder of how vastly small our planet, our nation and our lives are in the whole of the universes. Humility is one possible outcome, but awe and obedience to that which is unseen is another outcome.

The infinite number of earths is paralleled with an infinite number of life forms, that do not resemble humans. Some far advanced, some lagging far behind. Do we have reason to fear these alien life forms. Yes, power would be disproportionately on the side of the traveler's. Is it likely that they would have evil intent, no, to what advantage? If there are infinite galaxies, with unlimited life and "resource's" habitable moons and planet's, then why bother to harm a small primitive species and planet.

This leaves but one probable outcome of our first encounter, and that is of benevolent and wise communication and assistance. Then again, we could be the tastiest species known to the Zorg or Orat's (names made up, and considered no more sacred or evolved than fish or foul. What me worry? A thousand reason's to not think we are a heard of tantalizing proportions, more likely, we are seen as a confused species, leaving significant impact on our home planet, fighting constantly, and predatory when it comes to plants and animals. We can only hope that parallel to the infini

te is a creative sources that is kind and forgiving.
