Spoken word, Saturday:

Our church administrator always begins her announcements and prayers with my name is ...."I use the pronouns of she and her. As I thought upon this during the week, I realize that I would choose to use the pronouns it and that. Using gender based pronouns is a form of duality and artificial separation from other family members. "I me mine" was a great song, that still rings true, some 50 years later. When we choose to selectively choose affiliation with a group, we are, by action, excluding others. No longer a village.

A French philosopher once said: "there is always a simple solution for any problem, unfortunately it is usually wrong." I understand the movement that uses the letters LGBQTIA, and why this conversation is very important, but self labelling diminishes your freedom and equality. We, this, that and they, and our, are choices of inclusive. One Love, one world, one family, pure and simple. Until we cease our selective duality, there will be no peace or justice in our world.
