Spoken word Saturdays:

If CS Lewis was alive today, and he greeted you with; "I hope today is the worse/worst day of the rest of your life; would you recognize that he was trying to lift you up? I would, but then I am a die-hard stoic and metaphysical Christian just like Clive Staples. Most would take this as cruel or maybe even a curse, but he says that our father promises us that tomorrow will be better; this too shall pass.

Accepting truth, seeking truth, is the crux of virtually all religious practices. With truth comes wisdom, loving kindness, gratitude and service. Almost all religions are the product of inspired people, with wisdom of their times, trying to define how human's can co-exist without killing or enslaving each other. Social mores, based upon a refined explanation of the infinite and un-nameable creator of the universe and life. These sacred writing occurred 10,000 years ago in India, 5,000 years ago in China, with the Talmud coming around 800 BC, Christianity 2,000 years ago, Catholicism 1700 years ago, and Islam 1300 years ago.

No equal sacred works have occurred since the Prophet Mohammad, praise be to Allah, though many "new faiths" have occurred since the times of Mohammad. These include, Latter day Saints, 7th day Adventist's, Jehovah's Witnesses, Scientologists, Christian Scientists and three new age versions of semi Christianity. Out of one of these was the Church of Religious Science, Ernest Holmes, who helped create the sacred Big Book of AA. Sacred works speak to us, open with pin point accuracy of scripture relevant to our current needs. The Big Book seems to meet this criterion.

So, with the Stoic recognition of the vulnerability of life, causing a awakened gratitude, and greater ability to both cary our burdens and walk our walk. So, try lifting someone up with "I hope this is the worst day of your life", and then explain some simple tenets of Christianity and Stoicism.
