Sunday's celebrations and sabbath:

Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy. This quote by TS Elliott, provides a deep truth, that echo's the muses and sages of the past. Wealth, Power, Fame, and Fortune are goals of the masses, and the ruling classes. Yet, all of these goals are transient and temporary, and clearly not related to happiness, love or compassion.

Lack of resources is reasonable consideration, as there are national boundaries and financial institutions that dictate our ability to "live". It is easy to see why people pursue the four transient goals, and also easy to see why so few people are truly happy, and enjoying their fields of work. However, there is one simple tool. Understand what is outside your control, and embrace and act upon what is in your control. Acceptance is a nice path to happiness.

The human species has rules of the flesh, and in these are rest, sleep, movement and a plant based nutritional need. We have theorized on the needs of the soul, and established churches, religion's and celebrations to try to provide for these needs. Where most people labor, is in the mind, as we can't scientifically prove what the best mental diet is for the human species. Our thoughts and inner voices and conversations are far from the state of human's in recent and distant past. Our world does not take a sabbath, and provide a sacred calm and quiet. We need this, so we must create the time, space and intention of giving back to our body, mind and spirit.
