Thursday: Living the Good Life

"The Arc of life always veers towards truth/justice" (sic) St. Augustine. Not one English word existed for St. Augustine as he wrote his 28 volume thesis on God and Catholicism. Yet, we translate his words into contemporary language. He was the first to discuss "Just Wars". He was born 5 years after the first Catholic Synod (349 AD), joining St. Paul and Arch Bishop Eseubius, as the most important voices of Christianity. He recognized the power of the church, and is credited as the first to demand priests be celibate. St Thomas Aquinus attempted for 14 years to mathematically prove the existence of God. Missed it by "this much" (Don Adams/Maxwell Smart). He to spoke of priest continence, Just Wars and may have been the only Priest until our current Pope to add anything of significance to the Catholic Faith. But then Pythagoras had the mathematical proof of God as his Quatrat, All is found in the numbers 1-4, which when added together, equal 10, our base of math and science. The creation of the earth.

With trillions of galaxies estimated to exist, the incomprehensible vastness of creative and omnipotent energy that must/might exist to be the genesis, 1, plus 2, plus 3 plus 4 equals 10 as a creation theory saves us years of advanced, yet, meaningless mathematics. Why do I blog this for Living the Good Life? Because: we have simple, very simple, sources and resources of how to thrive, and live the good life. A simple review ot the Blue Zones would go a long way to answer our questions about best choices. The earth produces many good foods for humans, and the human species is highly adaptive to needs and necessities. Eating well is very simple. Another day, and another blog, I will further discuss this simplicity. Living well; now that's a different question. Blue Zone cultures share much, but living well requires presence of mind, and our best cultivation of heart-felt truth. Vigilance, humility, gratitude, service and loving kindness are the compass destinations of a good life.
