Thursday's Living the Good Life:

45 years ago, I was in Yellowstone Park with my friend Diane. We were on a tour with one of the ranger's and at one point, he shared a story. He said that he told a group, "don't just do something, sit there". He shared that quiet and stillness was one of the important habits of the nature observer. The all sat. there, and a 7 year old girl was able to remain motionless, as a humming bird hovered and put it's beak into her ear. She was delighted, and the crowd was a bit wiser.

Living is not just doing, living is just being. The Good Life involves movement, breath and many activities, but it also includes being able to do little or nothing as we reflect, meditate, create intentions, and perchance spend times deep in prayer. When the mind is able to slow down, the body renews and restores. The quiet mind is like a blank canvas, and it is able to receive inspired thoughts. If you find that your life, and your mind is running out of control, seek quiet and focus. Don't try harder, resist less. Accept that which you cannot influence and embrace the actions need to influence those things you can. Accept the consequence's provided the intentions were good, and learn from the experience. Never be afraid to fail, for this is the most common path to discovery. Discovery is the only permanent path to change. As the world is in constant change, we must adapt as well. So, slow down you move to fast, you've got to make the morning last.
