Thursday's Living the Good Life:

Feng Shui, Vastu Shastra are ancient systems of architecture, building, design, and organization of your home. Coming from China and India, we have no western system that compares to this wisdom. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is probably the closest we come in the west, but this is a system built on intelligence and not ancient wisdom's. The differences are clear and self-evident.

Openness and balance are the tenet's of the ancient sciences. Less is more began here, not in the west. When you enter a restaurant you want similar greetings, a welcoming ambience, cleanliness, respectful and pleasant service, and this is a parallel to the eastern systems. Chaos, clutter and mis-alignment's are the opposite of these principles, and people with OCD know full well, how minor discord's can lead to major irritations. The picture is crooked, the furnishings do not go together, there is not enough light, these things matter in Living the Good Life.

The Blue Zones designate areas around the world, where the population averages 100 years of healthy life. They have principles in these cultures, tradition's that have proven sound and worthy. Growing or taking part in the growing of our foods. Preparing our meals as a family, and sitting together with gratitude and thanksgiving, and joining in the Good Life. Most of the Blue Zones are vegetarian, all consume very little animal product's and our SAD diet drives most of our self-created western diseases. The human species is not that of a carnivore, nor a healthy omnivore, and our anatomical structures are enough to assure these principles. We do best on fruit, nuts, seeds and some vegetables and only tolerate the additions of fish, foul and beast. These are adaptive tolerances that do not lead to a life well lived. We are who we are, we don't live in a garden of eden anymore, and in these years, we never will. But, we can plant our own gardens. Next Thursday, composting and bio-dynamic agriculture. Tune in at 8 for today's pod cast.
