Two fer' Wednesday's Opinions:

I was planning to dance on the edge, opinions critical of the "chosen people" self proclamation of ther Jewish faith. “For you [Israel] are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession” (Deuteronomy 7:6).Nov 20, 2019. I have not found a similar arrogance in Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, or Islam's doctrine's, however, I do find it in the Catholic Church, with its Papal and human changes and interpretations of the Bible.

"ism" is a suffix appearing in loanwords from Greek, where it was used to form action nouns from verbs (baptism). On this model, -ism is used as a productive suffix in the formation of nouns denoting action or practice, state or condition, principles, doctrines, a usage or characteristic, devotion or adherence, etc criticism. These Greek loanwords include racism, militarism, chauvinism, patriotism, capitalism, as well as Judaism and Catholicism.
