Wednesday's opinions, news and commentary

SoSo, same ol' same o', as in "nothing new under the sun". When it comes to world news, it sure seems to be SoSo. When this blog becomes history, the names and events will be relevant to past times, but the script remains the same. There continues to be a revolving door of hearings and appeals related to the 90 plus indictments of Donald Trump, as both he and Joe Biden become their party's Presidential candidates. Israel continues to destroy humanity in Gaza, Haiti is once again in upheaval. The US has held onto colonial rule dating back to the tyrant Papa Doc of the 60's. One Island, two worlds.

Women are rapidly breaking glass ceilings, in sports, theatre, journalism, politics and cultural change. As post COVID recovery opened up, women took the challenge, and life in America should never be the same. The multiple fronts of military conflict has brought a new perspective of our nation's addiction to war and munitions. The world access to news has changed the victims from un-scene faces in distant lands to faces on our phones and flat screens. Killing and bombing for peace and justice is now but a whisper in the rushes, and human empathy is spreading throughout most lands. Autocracy is self-revelatory, and facing it's own self destruction. The pendulum swings, corruption thrives, but the illusion of might making right, and right equating to peace, freedom and justice has outlived its feted life, and unless the access to information implodes, this SoSo political influence is in its last breath.

According to Francis Bacon, universal democracy can only occur with universal education. Education not indoctrination, as has been our recent historical practice. An educated electorate is more critical than a slate of admirable candidates. We must stubbornly continue to choose the lessor of two evils, but the growth of "universal education" can alter our future course and attitudes. Register to vote, have discussions with friends, with a desire to learn, not to be right, share important events and information, trust the process. My opinion for today, is that second to silence, patience is foundational to living well, and being real.
